Jesus The Forgotten Feminist by Chris Geraghty*
What's the solution to women advancing up the corporate ladders of everyday institutions and places of Worship? We are! Where did the age old dogma come from that women were somehow second rate, too fragile or Not Enough? Who made the dodgy Rules and fear based Regulations that side-lined women in many societies? It wasn't Jesus of Nazareth, that's for sure. Women were an integral part of his everyday life, back in the day. By all accounts, Jesus the Prophet was a loving humble person teaching a message of Inclusion, Peace, Acceptance, Equality, Compassion, Wisdom and Spirituality @ No Borders. Then came a few hitches when mere morals entered the mix!
We attended the Perth launch of Chris Geraghty's book last Tuesday night at Christ Church Grammar School in Claremont, Western Australia. Having been brought up in Ireland by open minded Christian parents, I was flabbergasted to learn much about Jesus The Man that I never knew before (from this fine author, scholar, ex-priest and retired Judge). His speech was Music to my Ears. And The Book Itself. A. Riveting. Independent. Intelligent. Read.
Both of my parents were faithful church-goers but pointed out to me from an early age how they felt young girls and women (especially nuns), were marginalised in some churches and that I should look elsewhere for creative free-thinking female role models. My parents were way ahead of their time. Their opinions would have been seen, by some, as scandalous! As a teen I was free to choose my own religion, or none. I was not indoctrinated at Home. Living. From. The. Light. Within.
Pic below represents the Jesus I see where inclusion and human rights were his life's work. He didn't hang out in the Big End of Town where Class cannot be Bought! Mary Magdalene and his Mother Mary were with him during most of the important times of his life and death.
Chris Geraghty, the Author, and I share a much loved, and still talked about, Irish ancestor named Catherine Kelly Geraghty. One of her sons is my maternal grandfather. Another of her sons is Chris Geraghty's father. In the early 1900s she and her husband saved up to send three of their young sons to Australia for a better future, one of whom was Chris's father. Her eldest son who stayed in Ireland was my beautiful grandfather. Once the boys set sail for Australia in their teens, she never saw them again. Never laid eyes on her three sons again... My mother often told me this story and there were tears on every re-telling.
Pic below shows borders on countries of our world but the Birds of Peace and Paradise fly freely. The Spirit of Jesus can be found by liberating the animals who show us every day how to release ourselves - just from their Presence - @PlantBased.Com and #FriendsNotFood where Speciesism is a thing of the past.
Saint Hildegard of Bingen, in my view, was also a radical human rights' advocate born in 1098. She rocked the socks off a few corporate entities of her era. LOVE Matthew Fox's book about her life, partly because the writing is still so relevant today. What a Story! What a Woman.
Do you believe in your own divinity, or celestial spirit, a God, Buddha, Allah, or The Light? Maybe it's the Sentient Sacred animals and trees that spark Love in your Being? The. Evolvement. of. Us. Tell me your spirit or transformation stories @ www.hunterksmith.com and thanks for reading my blog. If you enjoyed it, please Share.
PS: I regularly write through my book characters, but this time I didn't. I usually write about human/animal rights and great food. My latest book is titled Creating with a Bang! which received Three 5 Star Reviews from The International Review Panel.
Cheers,
Hunter
